Thinking About Japan
Published: March 18, 2011
I had prepared a blog for today that was about team building and our company. I am happy I wait until Friday to post, because last night I could not sleep. I kept thinking about what is happening in Japan. I don’t know about you, but I’ve been glued to the coverage of Japan all week and it’s been dominating my thoughts. Here is a country that has clearly demonstrated its ability to prepare for and handle a significant natural catastrophe. But between the initial earthquake, the tsunamis, the nuclear plant, and all the aftershocks, this devastation is out of the realm of what any government could truly manage on its own. I keep hoping for better news.
One observation that I would make is that America is getting involved helping in many ways. The U.S. is often criticized for our involvement in other nation’s business. But here we are in the thick of it, providing humanitarian relief and support because it’s the right thing to do. I’m feeling proud to be an American!
