Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Retail is an Exciting Addition to Product Lineup

In retail, people and inventory are the biggest cost drivers. Retailers are always trying to determine how to better manage your people based on expected sales volume, and optimize inventory while driving down cost. In my recent blog, What’s New with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Edition, I touch on the exciting new release of Dynamics 365 for Retail. I’d like to dig deeper into the Retail app.

To recap, Dynamics 365 for Retail helps you optimize retail operations by bringing digital, in store and back office aspects of your operations together. Retail can be licensed individually and is also included in the Unified Operations Plan for all Dynamics customers.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Retail is an end-to-end retail solution that delivers a unified commerce experience in an omni-channel environment. In a retail world where one channel cannibalizes another, Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Retail gives you the opportunity to have all your channels collaborate to give your customers a full, rich and holistic experience allowing them to choose the channel(s) they wish to use to buy. It encompasses sales, mobility, intelligence and productivity to help retailers and workers achieve more in a cloud-first, mobile-first manner. Retail offers comprehensive support to operate a wide range of business processes, such as merchandising, inventory and channel management capabilities. It also provides immersive customer experiences across all touchpoints.

Here are the options available, either all together or as a stand-alone solution:

Channel management

As you set up your Retail experience, you will decide how to define and configure your stores. They can be brick-and-mortar stores, online stores, call centers, or any combination of the three.

Clienteling and loyalty

Customer needs constantly change. You must be able to quickly and effectively keep up with changes in buying habits and trends, so that you can target and attract new customers, but also keep your existing customer base happy.

Hardware and peripherals

Retail Modern point of sale (MPOS) and Cloud POS can use a wide range of hardware peripherals. Both MPOS and Cloud POS offer multiple interfaces and deployment options to help you with your various business scenarios.

Advanced analytics bring the power of machine learning to retail challenges, and enable predictive, optimized, and personalized insights that help lead to growth and profitability. Retail lets you deliver visual reports on any device, whether it's online or offline. Additionally, you can help customers identify products and services that meet their needs before the time of purchase.

Monitoring and diagnosis

Retail lets you monitor sales and margin performance in real time across various levels of the organization hierarchy.

Once you create and configure your products and assortments in Retail, you can offer your products for sale in your retail channels. You can create the products, define the product properties and attributes, and assign the products to retail category hierarchies. To make the products available to your retail channels and add them to an active assortment, you must release the products to the legal entities where they are available.

Store operations and POS

MPOS is a POS app for PCs, tablets, and phones. Sales staff can create and access sales transactions and customer orders, perform clienteling activities, and perform daily operations and inventory management on mobile devices anywhere in the store, and at PC-based registers. Cloud POS is a browser-based POS that can be started in any standard browser.

Optimize your staff

Your staff is important to you. Dynamics for Retail allows you to schedule against planned revenues, and boost employee satisfaction by giving them the opportunity to swap shifts with co-workers, and check performance against revenue targets.

Inventory management

Optimize inventory based on demand management in a single-store or multi-store environment. You can secure product from buying groups, warehouses or other avenues.

Whether you are a small or large business, or retail is a small or large part of your business, Dynamics for Retail has rich functionality that can help you manage all aspects of your retail operation. Let us help you determine if all or part of the Retail solution is right for your business.
