Microsoft Dynamics 365: The Next-Generation Business Solution

It’s an exciting time. Recently, Microsoft announced the launch of Dynamics 365, a next-generation business solution platform that combines the power of ERP and CRM into one unified, cloud-based system.

Today, I want to cover some questions that I've been receiving about the launch and provide some insight into the new technology.

What are you hearing from Tribridge customers about Dynamics 365?

There is obvious interest from the customer base given Microsoft's big push around Dynamics 365. Tribridge wants to help customers by showing them that it's not just the "what" and "when" with Dynamics 365, it's really about the "how" and "why." Our point of view is that customers are looking for assistance in educating themselves and in building an all-up cloud strategy. By asking critical questions, like how can Dynamics 365 help to improve business processes and efficiencies, we can help provide perspective on their unique Dynamics path and timeline.

What are some of the key differences from legacy Dynamics solutions that customers need to begin learning about?

At the end of the day, the core functionality of Dynamics 365 Business Edition is NAV and Dynamics 365 Enterprise Edition is AX and CRM, but it's a much broader conversation than evaluating your legacy Dynamics solution. You have to take all of its applications, models, and functionality into consideration.

Dynamics 365 is a cloud-first, holistic solution and it's a significant shift for customers. Educate yourself or ask us for help - there are a lot of new considerations especially with AppSource. If you're wondering when the right time to start learning about your path is, it's now.

Who should be curious about Dynamics 365?

There are over 12,000 customers that make up the current AX2009 and AX2012 install base who should be evaluating the extended functionality of Dynamics 365. And if you're already running Dynamics CRM, then you already own Dynamics 365. It offers additional functionally that extends beyond your legacy CRM instance. Migration timing is renewal-based so customers should get acquainted with Dynamics 365 to ensure that they are transitioning to best version of Dynamics for their business.

I am an SMB interested in an ERP install or upgrade. What should I do?

Existing and net new SMB customers running GP, SL, and NAV will continue to be supported, long into the future. But Microsoft is continuing to enhance functionality through Dynamics 365 and there are some important considerations to evaluate like what functionality is the best fit for their business and are their current ISV solutions available.
