Tips in Selecting the Right ERP Solution for Your Organization

An executive board exploring current ERP offerings can make business leaders feel overwhelmed with options, with new solutions flooding the market and creating competitive price points across the board.  With the addition of cloud-based deployments, the selection process becomes even more involved, bringing up questions regarding the future of a company's hardware provisioning roadmap. Even the most experienced IT leaders need a bit of guidance as they sort through the endless variety, especially considering the rapid evolution of end user and customer demands in recent years.

In a recent webinar we hosted “Critical Success Factors in Selecting the Right Accounting/ERP Solution for Your Organization” featuring Kevin Armstrong, Tribridge VP and seasoned ERP consultant, explored a set of key features that every decision-maker must take into account when picking an ERP solution. Examining financial outlooks, integration concerns and a range of general business requirements, the webinar gave both granular and big-picture insights needed for a successful ERP selection.

Redefine Total Cost of Ownership

Many business leaders don't recognize some of the indirect costs of their ERP deployments. He pointed out that since modernized solutions are so tightly integrated with operations across departments, it can be easy to overlook how deeply the software will impact the productivity and flexibility of end users everywhere. The cost of the actual implementation is only a piece of the puzzle - many other factors must come into play as decision-makers calculate the total cost of ownership. This figure should comprise much more than the actual ERP purchase.

Make User Adoption a Priority

Few things can put the brakes on an otherwise smooth ERP integration faster than a heavy end user learning curve. Staff members across accounting, marketing, sales and product development teams all turn to these solutions to access and share data relevant to one another, and the longer it takes to achieve this self-sustaining ecosystem, the longer the wait to realize ROI will be. With a Microsoft Dynamics ERP system, employees will easily be able to dive into using intuitive tools, expediting the adoption process and diminishing setbacks.

Pick a Platform for the Long Term

Constantly being forced to jump from one outdated solution to the next is a burden on executive teams, end users and company budgets. As explained in the webinar, an ERP solution must be brought on for the long haul. Technology will only continue to advance at a rapid pace, and opting for a proven, resilient service will only fortify long-term IT strategy.
